Barbara Lockee, PhD

Director, Professor Instructional Design and Technology, Virginia Tech

Dr. Lockee has served on the faculty at Virginia Tech for over 20 years. Her research interests focus on instructional design issues related to distance education. She has published more than 100 papers in academic journals and has recently written two books. Dr. Lockee has presented her work extensively through invited keynotes at national and international conferences and has also been commissioned to offer workshops on instructional design and distance education for external agencies such as the U.S. Army, Carilion Healthcare Systems, and the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Her research portfolio exceeds $5,000,000 and includes projects funded by the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Virginia Department of Education. She is Past President of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT), the international professional association for educational technology researchers and practitioners.

Michelle O'Connor, CMR, MEd
