Safer Marketing Practices: In April 2024, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a final rule addressing predatory marketing practices in both Prescription Drug Plans (PDPs) and Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plans (MA-PDs). These changes aim to enhance medication access for certain groups, including Americans 65 and older and those with disabilities.
Coverage Phases: Starting in 2025, Medicare Part D will transition from three coverage phases to two, eliminating the coverage gap phase entirely.
Out-of-Pocket Cost Cap: A new $2,000 out-of-pocket cost cap will be introduced, making prescription drugs more affordable and predictable for beneficiaries.
