Q: How will the courses benefit candidates in a Management Development Program?

A: Upon obtaining their CPM®, graduates will have a strong foundation in areas such as business communication and business ethics, managed healthcare, pharmacoeconomics, and outcomes research. The graduates will be prepared to manage a business territory in the dynamic healthcare industry. The curriculum focuses on field sales management including leadership; building an effective team; training, coaching, and mentoring; managing a district as a business; and collaborating with other groups and divisions.

Q: How do I apply?

A: Access to this program is controlled by the Management Development Program at your company. You may submit your online application by visiting our web site. You must print, complete and return the policy statement and recommendation form to the Institute. Please be certain to follow the recommendation form instructions carefully.

Q: Can I apply without being referred by a manager?

A: Students who do not have the proper referral(s) by their company's Management Development department may not pursue a Certification in Pharmaceutical Management®.

Q: Do I have to be a CMR® Certification Program graduate before applying?

A: You do not have to be a CMR Certification Program graduate to pursue your Certification in Pharmaceutical Management®.

Q: Can I transfer credits from courses taken during my studies in the CMR ® Certification Program?

A: If you have taken the courses required for the CPM® Program while in the CMR Certification Program, you may transfer them if they were completed within 5 years of your application for Certification in Pharmaceutical Management® , and if they were passed with a score of 80% or higher.

Q: Are exams involved?

A: Candidates for CPM® Program must pass an examination for each course to receive credit. These exams are administered conveniently through the Internet, at a secure web site. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to minimize interruption of a candidate's or manager's personal and professional responsibilities.

Q: What is The Capstone Course?

A: The Capstone Course is taken after all of the other required courses have been completed. Like a final examination, The Capstone Course is a comprehensive review of all the courses taken in the program. This course provides candidates with the opportunity to challenge themselves with case studies that reflect real-life responsibilities of managers in the pharmaceutical industry.

Q: How long does it take to earn my Certification in Pharmaceutical Management®?

A: A candidate seeking the CPM® designation must complete 32 credits in specific courses relating to pharmaceutical management. Since the program is designed to be self-paced and self-study, a candidate may pace his or her progress to accommodate personal and professional needs and obligation.

A: Courses are self-study and self-paced. Study time will vary depending on the student's familiarity with the topic. Most courses have supplemental audio CDs that reinforce information on the topics.
