CMR INSTITUTE ANNOUNCES NEW CERTIFICATION IN
PHARMACEUTICAL MANAGEMENT™

New Program Enrollment and New Courses Available February 2005

CMR Institute, a not-for-profit educational institute dedicated to advancing the healthcare industry through education, today announced the addition of its new Certification in Pharmaceutical Management® (CPM®) program. CMR Institute developed this program to benefit newly promoted managers or individuals who have been identified by their companies as potential candidates for management. This certification program will provide skills and knowledge that will help managers become more effective leaders and have a bottom-line impact.

CMR Institute created the Certification in Pharmaceutical Management so existing and future managers could build valuable skill sets for successful sales management positions and broaden their knowledge of field sales management. The intense focus on field sales management includes leadership, building an effective team, training, coaching and mentoring; managing a district as a business and collaborating with other groups and divisions. Upon completion of CPM®, students will have a strong foundation in areas such as business ethics, managed care, pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research.

Proper company referral is necessary for a candidate to pursue CPM®. However, an applicant does not need to be a CMR Certification Program graduate to qualify for the Certification in Pharmaceutical Management®. Because of the demands and schedules of pharmaceutical managers, the CPM® program provides tools and understanding that managers need in a flexible, self-paced environment with examinations delivered via the Internet. To complete the program and earn the certification, candidates must complete 32 credits in specific courses relating to pharmaceutical management.

"As they continue to grow, pharmaceutical companies look to expand their management teams,” said James E. Dutton, president of CMR Institute. “It is our goal at CMR Institute to give students timely access to knowledge, information and trends to further their careers by keeping our curriculum current and progressive.”

In association with this Program announcement, CMR Institute is introducing two new courses available to the pharmaceutical industry. Field Sales Management is written to benefit district managers, experienced sales representatives, or others who need to understand how to build, develop, and achieve results through a district team, and skills needed to manage a district as a business. Case studies assist the learner in applying this knowledge to real situations and the challenges encountered by district managers on a daily basis. The Capstone Course will be taken after all of the other required courses have been completed by the candidate pursuing the Certification in Pharmaceutical Management. Like a final examination, The Capstone Course is a comprehensive review of all the courses taken in the program. This course provides candidates with the opportunity to challenge themselves with case studies that reflect real-life responsibilities of managers in the pharmaceutical industry.
