First Certification in Pharmaceutical Management™ (CPM™) Graduate - Whittaker Mack III, CMR, CPM: Class of 2003, 2005

The CMR Institute® congratulates Whittaker Mack, III, CMR, CPM, as the first graduate of the Certification in Pharmaceutical Management™ (CPM™) Program. A 17 year veteran of the pharmaceutical industry, he started as an analytical research chemist with American Cyanamid, now known as Wyeth. He then became a formulation chemist with Wyeth. Changing roles he became a plant manager with Solgar Laboratories and then a production manager for Novartis. Currently with Pfizer, where he has been employed for the past 8 years, he is now a Senior Institutional Healthcare Representative.

Whittaker’s drive is exhibited when he states, “I have analyzed the tablet, made the tablet, now I am selling the tablet. My overall goal is to one day own the tablet. I just hope I live long enough to realize my goal!”

CMR Institute feels that Whittaker is well on his way. Having degrees in Chemistry and Philosophy from Duke University, he has continued his education. One of the first in his region of institutional healthcare representatives to receive the CMR® designation with concentrations in both Business and Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Management, he feels the certification was like a medal of honor, raising the standard for other representatives to follow. Whittaker also credits having the CMR designation on his business cards for providing him with great opportunities to converse with physicians and clinicians, letting them know that he takes his own trade seriously. His designation also raises clinicians’ awareness of the level of knowledge he brings to their discussions.

Whittaker continues to lead the pack as the very first graduate of the CPM Program. Knowing he wants to become a senior level manager, he knew the CPM curriculum would help him enhance his innate qualities. Mack stated, “The CPM Program provides the cornerstone of knowledge for pharmaceutical management. There are not many universities out there that offer what the CPM Program offers. This program is pharmaceutical management specific, offers the flexibility of at home, self-paced study and provides materials that I can reference for the rest of my career.”

Whittaker is also pursuing a MBA of Management and Finance from Fordham University in New York and is currently halfway through completing this goal. With his experience in graduate courses, he compliments the CMR and CPM curriculum, stating “I have found the curriculum offered by CMR Institute to be equal, if not better than normal university coursework. The case studies and analysis that are presented within the text are very relative to the job situation that I have, and are very realistic to pharmaceutical sales and management experience.” Whittaker has been recognized many times by Pfizer for his contributions. However, his proudest achievement was being named to the board of trustees of an organization called Urban Resource Institute. He considers this appointment an honor and a privilege because he is among many top executives at leading companies such as ABC, Disney, Oxygen, and the United Nations. A sports enthusiast, Whittaker enjoys baseball, basketball, and golf. Whittaker lives in Rockland County with his wife, a nurse practitioner, who is going back to school to get her nurse anesthetist degree.

Congratulations, Whittaker, for being the first Certification in Pharmaceutical Management Graduate, and on your many other achievements!

• Take the practice exam each time prior to taking your actual exam to test your connection speed.

• Turn off popup blocker software for www.censeoonline.com and www.censeo-online.com.

• Don’t attempt to use the right mouse button.

• When your exam scores, allow sufficient time for the system to generate a PDF report containing your detailed test results.

• To see exam scores for exams taken on this site, click on MY HISTORY.

Please read your online user guide and note:

• If you experience a disconnect, reconnect to the site and select CONTINUE to complete your exam.

• We recommend the use of the ‘mark for review’ function to review questions: when entering the review phase, use the ‘review marked questions’ button - clicking on the question number on the review list screen will only show the user the question itself, not the answers.
