John Sefko, CMR: Altana Pharma, Class of 1985

John Sefko, currently a District Manager at Altana Pharma, holds a BA from the University of Pittsburgh. Having worked in the pharmaceutical industry since 1976, he has grown in his career from territory representative to district manager, then to a Regional Manager, and finally as a National Sales Manager and a National Business Director, attributing much of his success to knowledge gained from the CMR Certification Program. Having had the pleasure of launching several key drugs, which have benefited many patients, he is most proud of his involvement in the creation of "The Great American Smokeout".

John has been awarded such honors as Regional Pacesetter Award for the top new rep, two President's Club awards, while at Merrell Dow; Regional Nominee for Lakeside National DM of the year in 1986, 1987, and 1988; and he received the National Lakeside Field Manager of the year award in 1987.

John continues his education through CMR Institute's Continuing Education quiz series published in Pharmaceutical Rep Magazine, and states "I am very proud to be a CMR because I feel there is a 'brotherhood' of CMR's who have committed themselves to improving their skills so that they can improve their ability to serve their customers at all levels and have shown their commitment to providing excellence in performance and dedication to professionalism."

LaHuse McFadden, CMR: Wyeth, Class of 1978

LaHuse ("Lui") McFadden, CMR, 1978, is extremely proud of his ability to assist in the hiring and training of long-term, productive employees at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. Beginning his career as a territory representative with Lederle Labs, McFadden has had 30 years in the industry to make many positive impacts.

"Lui is a person who consistently exhibits integrity and acts in an honorable manner. His customers would walk on hot coals for him," says Madeline Gardberg, Regional Account Director. Alma Greer, Associate Director Career Development, comments that "Lui has always led the pack, continually thinking outside of the box, and proactively training and leading other representatives to success. He volunteered to share his experiences and was instrumental in developing the Managed Care segment of Sales Training.”

Attaining his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Coppin State College, Mr. McFadden decided to combine his interest in both science and business by pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical industry. Now a regional manager with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, he has been promoted many times, and was awarded the Lederle Gold Cup Award in 1988, 1989, 1991, and 1992. He was also awarded the Wyeth President Achievement award in 2003.

"CMR Certification has not only given me recognition and admiration from my peers, but the commitment and hard work have also served to prove my dedication to my profession as a representative of the pharmaceutical industry."
