Washington, DC CE – Classes that Satisfy the SafeRx Act Requirements
SafeRx is an amendment to the District of Columbia Health Occupations Revision Act of 1985 which requires the licensing of pharmaceutical representatives in Washington, D.C. This legislation mandates licensing and continuing education for all pharmaceutical sales personnel who work in Washington, D.C.

City of Chicago Representative Licensure Program
In July 2017 the City of Chicago Department of Health finalized their rules for their Pharmaceutical Representative Licensure requirement. Pharmaceutical representatives in the City of Chicago may find all the information for requirements and application here: www.cityofchicago.org
Initial licensure requirements began July 1, 2017. The license is valid for one year and must be renewed by the anniversary of the initial license. Renewal requirements, including a continuing education requirement, are noted in the same link: www.cityofchicago.org

HIPAA Privacy Rule
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule gives patients greater access to their medical records and more control over how their health information is used. The federal rule requires healthcare providers and health plans to protect patients’ personal health information; this applies to both electronic and paper records.
