The anti-inflammatory agents (NSAIDs and corticosteroids) and analgesics (opioids and nonopioids) were addressed in detail in the modules, "Anti-inflammatory Drugs in Skeletal Disorders," and "Central Nervous System Drugs in Skeletal Disorders." Thus, this module mentions those agents only briefly to establish their significance in treating muscular disorders. We focus, here, mostly on CNS analgesics used in fibromyalgia syndrome and direct-acting muscle relaxants.
