Who Should Take This Course:
This course is a required component of CMR Institute’s Certification in Pharmaceutical Management Program® (CPM®). All participants in this certification program must successfully complete this course.

Career Applications/Benefits:
The Capstone Course is the culmination of CMR Institute’s Certification in Pharmaceutical Management Program. It is a bridge between previous CMR Institute management courses and the Certification in Pharmaceutical Management examination. During this four-credit course, the learner will have the opportunity to analyze typical management situations that occur in the pharmaceutical industry and apply critical management skills and perspectives required for a manager in today’s increasingly global business environment.

The Capstone Course focuses on 7 core competencies required of successful district managers:

• Business Communication and Presentation Skills
• Leadership
• Promoting Ethical Conduct
• Recruiting and Hiring
• Team Management
• Territory Management
• Training, Coaching, and Mentoring

Learners will need to effectively apply their knowledge and skills in each of these areas to successfully complete the course and the CPM examination.

Course Description:

The Capstone Course is the final course of the Certification in Pharmaceutical Management. It consists of two different types of interactive exercises: a 50-item pre-test and a series of five case studies. The pre-test allows learners to apply management knowledge to various business situations and determine their current level of understanding of the seven core competencies. The five case studies include management scenarios interspersed with analytical questions that require problem-solving and making decisions at the highest level. The scenarios are based on situations district managers encounter in their day-to-day activities and provide learners with an opportunity to roll up their sleeves and demonstrate their problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Each fictional case is designed so that learners can pull together knowledge from the CMR Institute Pharmaceutical Management curriculum, including skills in leadership, business tools, strategic thinking, effective communication, and coaching.

At the conclusion of The Capstone Course, candidates for graduation will be prepared to take the Certification in Pharmaceutical Management examination, an online multiple-choice examination similar in format to the examinations that accompany other CMR Institute management courses. After successful completion of the examination, candidates will earn their CMR Institute Certification in Pharmaceutical Management (CPM) designation.
