- CMR Institute has been providing education to medical representatives for more than 43 years
- We were founded in 1966 by physicians whose vision was to further the education of representatives, thus enabling them to be a more valued resource to all healthcare providers
- Our certification programs have set the standard for medical representatives for more than 40 years
Influential Leaders in our History:
Richard H. Lowe, Jr., MD—co-founder, a man of vision who nurtured and supported the Institute through the early years; Dr. Lowe was a Board Certified Urologist and long time President and Chairman of the Institute.
- Donald D. Barnes, MD – co-founder and Director; Dr. Barnes was an early advocate and supporter of the Institute
- Herbert C. Graebner—Former Chairman of The Institute and former Dean of The American College
C. E. ( Eddie) Morton, RPh—Former Chairman of the Institute and former SVP and General Manager of AH Robbins
William A. (Bill) Thawley, RPh—Former Chairman, former President of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science—the oldest pharmacy school in the U.S.
Donald G. Stark, Former Vice-Chairman and Director Emeritus, avid long-time supporter of the Institute. During his distinguished career in the pharmaceutical industry, Mr. Stark served as President of three pharmaceutical companies including Sandoz, Sterling Drug, and Nova Pharmaceuticals.

In the early years, these companies supported the development of our initial curriculum and enrolled many of their representatives into the CMR Certification Program.
Today, we serve more than 45 pharmaceutical/biotech companies, including nine of the top ten firms.
